FER/Impact - a FEA program for modeling of impact problems

Collaborators:  Zhi-Qiang Feng, Benoît Magnain, Jean-Michel Cros, Pierre Joli

This is a newly developed finite element program devoted to the simulation of impact problems. The solution method is based on:

• the bi-potential method for contact modeling in dynamic cases in the field of Non-Smooth Dynamics
• the first order algorithm for integration of the equation of motion.

The algorithm developed is named Bi-First and is implemented into FER/Impact , using C++ with object oriented programming techniques.

The Bi-First algorithm has been investigated numerically for many problems. From numerical experiments, we have found that:
